Nursery Curriculum

Our Nursery provision is designed to support children in the following areas of development:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development (making relationships, self-confidence and self-awareness, managing feelings and behaviour)
  • Communication and Language (speaking, listening and understanding)
  • Physical Development (moving and handling, health and self-care)
  • Literacy (reading and writing)
  • Mathematics (number and shape, space and measures)
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We have a balance of child-led and adult led learning. We follow the children’s interests and adults observe and facilitate learning and development through questioning, suggesting, modelling, speaking and listening.

We also have a weekly Forest School session in our small Woodland Area on the edge of our school field. These sessions provide children with the opportunity to work as a team, develop their problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills as well as having a positive impact on their health and well-being.

The children take part in a range of activities including:

  • Den Building
  • Woodland Craft
  • Treasure and Scavenger Hunts
  • Team Games
  • Campfire and Cooking.
